Russian CEC and Civic Chamber working to set up system of civil control over e-voting - chairperson

MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC) along with the Civic Chamber is working to set up an efficient system of civil control over remote electronic voting, CEC Chairperson Ella Pamfilova said.

"This year, we're placing the main emphasis on setting up a very practical and efficient system of civil control over remote voting in particular," Pamfilova said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

"Along with both the federal and regional Civic Chambers, we are trying to create this efficient control system right now," she said.

The CEC has encouraged all parties and candidates to recruit specialists to monitor elections, she said.

The president instructed the Presidential Executive Office on January 13, 2023, to collaborate with the CEC and human rights commissioners to consider ways to improve public monitoring of election processes by July 1, as seen from a list of instructions issued based on the outcomes of a presidential Human Rights Council meeting on December 7, 2022, and published on the Kremlin website.
