Oil pipeline bursts in Komi, 1,000 cubic meters of oil could have leaked into River Kolva - watchdog

MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - An oil pipeline has ruptured near the city of Usinsk in the Komi Republic, environmental watchdog Rosprirodnadzor said in Telegram.

"According to our estimates, 1,000 cubic meters of oil could have leaked into the River Kolva. The Nobel-Oil company did not provide us with information and stated that it was conducting training exercises. We learned about the spill from members of the public and the local Natural Resources Ministry. Oil products got into the ground and water, causing a lot of damage to the environment. We'll be demanding a spot check," the watchdog said.

Rosprirodnadzor, together with the Center for Laboratory Analysis of Technical Measurement, will take water and soil samples.
