Russian govt to allocate 1.5 bln rubles for completion of Moscow Region poultry breeding farm

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - The Russian government will allocate 1.5 billion rubles for the completion of construction and opening in 2023 of a large poultry selection and breeding complex in Moscow Region, the government's press service reported, citing an order signed on June 28 and posted on the Cabinet's website.

"The new agricultural enterprise will provide poultry farms with domestic meat chickens, which will make it possible to reduce Russian poultry farmers' dependence on imported breeding material and will help increase the country's food security," the press release said.

The government allocated 4.5 billion rubles from its reserve fund for the construction of the complex in 2022, so federal funding for the project will total 6 billion rubles. The complex is being built under the government program for Russia's scientific and technological development.

The allocation of the funding was discussed at a government meeting on June 27. Materials for the meeting said this referred to "new construction of scientific and production facilities of a selection and breeding complex and infrastructure."
