Russia's quota for duty-free Vietnamese rice imports in 2024 may increase 27.5%, while dropping 39% for Belarus - draft

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Russia's quota for duty-free rice imports from Vietnam in 2024 may increase 27.5% compared to this year, based on the draft EEC decision posted on its website.

The quota is set at 7,288 tonnes, the document says. This year it is 5,716 tonnes.

Meanwhile, the quota for Vietnamese rice imports in Belarus may be reduced 39% to 2,462 tonnes from 4,034 tonnes this year.

Armenia's quota will remain at 250 tonnes. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan do not import rice from Vietnam within the quota.

The total quota is 10,000 tonnes. This is only long-grain rice, which Russia generally does not produce.

The establishment of a quota for the duty-free import of rice to EAEU countries is provided for by the free-trade agreement between the EAEU and Vietnam dated May 29, 2015.
