Lithuania imposes one-year ban on transit of some dual-use goods via its territory

VILNIUS. June 28 (Interfax/BNS) - The Lithuanian government approved a temporary ban on Wednesday on the transportation of dual-use goods by land through Lithuanian territory and from the country, the BNS news agency said.

At the suggestion of the Economy and Innovations Ministry, the government restricted the transportation of 57 groups of goods, mainly microelectronics and semiconductor components from the adopted national list of controlled dual-use goods.

"Lithuania is restricting the transportation of certain dual-use and potential dual-use goods through its territory for at least one year," Economy and Innovations Minister Ausrine Armonaite said at a government meeting.

Vilnius has information that these goods, which are delivered from Western Europe to countries in Central Asia, could be used in the conflict in Ukraine, Armonaite said.

"We don't want to allow our territory to be used for these purposes. That is why we are introducing such restrictions," she said.
