Russia to help build spaceports in Southeast Asia
MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - Cryogenmash, part of Gazprombank Group, has announced the start of cooperation with the Malaysian company Angkasa-X on space projects, including construction of civilian spaceport infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
"Cryogenmash, a unit of Gazprombank Group, represented by General Director Dmitry Kuznetsov, and the Malaysian technological and social inclusion company Angkasa-X have agreed to cooperate in building launch infrastructure for civilian spaceports in Southeast Asia," the company said in a statement.
The sides will soon elaborate an action plan for designing and constructing key elements of spaceport infrastructure," it said.
"We are seeing a keen interest in creating space infrastructure in Southeast Asia and are ready to work in new geographical markets," the statement quoted Kuznetsov as saying.
The sides signed a memorandum of understanding at Glavkosmos (part of Roscosmos), it said.
Roscosmos head Yury Borisov said at a session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 16, 2023, that Russia was ready to share expertise in constructing satellites with friendly countries and to consider joint projects.
