U.S., Turkish presidential advisors discuss Russia, grain deal, Swedish entry into NATO

WASHINGTON. June 28 (Interfax) - U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has discussed Russia, extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and Sweden's entry into NATO with Chief Foreign Policy and Security Advisor of the Turkish president Akif Cagatay Kilic by phone, the White House said in a statement.

"They discussed recent developments in Russia and our continued support for Ukraine [...], as well as Turkey's efforts to ensure a renewal of the Black Sea Grain Initiative," the White House said.

Sullivan and Kilic agreed with the importance of maintaining stability in the Aegean Sea. Sullivan hailed constructive interaction between Turkey and Greece.

Additionally, preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius were discussed.

"Sullivan underscored the United States' view that Sweden should become a member of NATO as soon as possible," the White House said.
