EU to donate 500 generators to Ukraine to mitigate aftermath of Kakhovka HPP disaster

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - The European Union is providing Ukraine with 500 power generators from its reserves, worth a total of 16 million euros, to mitigate the aftermath of a disaster at the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant (HPP).

The power generators will be used to rebuild critical infrastructure, such as water pumping stations and sewage stations, Ukrainian media reported on Tuesday, citing the European Commission's press service. They are of various sizes ranging from 12.5 kVa to 1,100 kVa with a total financial value of 16 million euros.

"We are mobilising our rescEU strategic reserves hosted by Poland to deliver 500 power generators to Ukraine. I also want to thank all European countries who immediately offered assistance to Ukraine via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism," European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic said.
