Ukraine doesn't need state-owned film studios - culture minister

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Film studios in Ukraine should not be owned by the state but should be private and raise investments, Ukrainian Culture and Information Policy Minister Alexander Tkachenko said.

"In my opinion, cinema is one of the main areas with regard to our promotion and collaboration opportunities. Infrastructure reform in this sector is long overdue. I'm certain that we don't need state-owned film studios. Rather, they should be private and raise investments," Ukrainian media quoted Tkachenko as saying at a meeting with public figures in Kiev on Monday.
