Head of Zelensky's Office expects Ukraine to be invited to NATO under simplified procedure at Vilnius summit

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine is expecting to receive a clear invitation to join NATO using a simplified procedure, Head of the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's Office Andrei Yermak said at a meeting with German media outlets.

"We understand that in the current conditions it is impossible to give an exact date. But it will become possible when the security situation allows," Ukrainian media quoted Yermak as saying in a statement circulated by the press service for the Ukrainian President's Office.

Daily consultations and talks are underway with partners to make the upcoming NATO summit effective for Ukraine, he said.

"Ukraine's position is that we expect to receive an invitation to simplified accession at the summit in July. But, importantly, we'd like to receive an absolutely clear signal that would ensure Ukraine's path toward membership in NATO," Yermak said.
