Ukrainian Agrarian Policy Ministry forecasts grain harvest at 46 mln tonnes in 2023

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The grain harvest in Ukraine this year is expected to be about 46 million tonnes, which is 10-15% less than last year, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky said.

"As of today, there is an average weighted forecast: it is expected that about 46 million tonnes of grain will be harvested. This, unfortunately, is less than last year. The drop is about 10% to 15%," Ukrainian media quoted Vysotsky's statement during a national telethon on Monday.

At the same time, Vysotsky noted that domestic consumption of grain stands at 18 million tonnes.

"Therefore, even collecting 46 million tonnes, it is still 2.5 times more than the domestic needs, respectively, there is no risk for grain shortage for domestic purposes today," the first deputy minister said.

As reported, in mid-March, the Agrarian Policy Ministry projected a fall in the total gross yield of grain and pulses crops in the 2023 season to 44.3 million tonnes against 53.1 million tonnes in the previous season.
