Indonesia not to extend visa-free travel for Russian visitors

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - The Indonesian government has decided not to extend visa-free travel regulations for citizens of 159 countries, including Russia, The Jakarta Post reported.

"The visa-free visits for those 159 countries turned out to be ineffective," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said.

The decision to end the facility that enabled visitors from those countries to enter Indonesia without a visa will not hurt the tourist industry but will actually improve the quality of tourism, he said.

Indonesia suspended the visa-free facility for visitors from 159 countries on June 7. Now it remains valid for travelers from the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
