Belarus to ban Polish semitrailers, cars with cargo, following ban on trucks

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - Belarus will ban trailers, semitrailers and cars with cargo that are registered in Poland from July 3, the Belarusian State Customs Committee said on Thursday.

"The document states that such vehicles will be allowed to travel only across the Belarusian-Polish border. Polish trailers and semitrailers may go to specially designated places exclusively for cargo transshipment," the committee said.

Belarus has barred haulage vehicles registered in EU member states from its territory since April 2022.

"The latest decision is Belarus's response to the new restrictions imposed on the Belarusian-Polish border on June 1, when Poland broadened the list of Belarusian and Russian vehicles barred from its territory," the committee said.

Poland suspended road traffic through the Bobrowniki-Bierestowica checkpoint on the border with Belarus in February. One checkpoint, Brest-Terespol, remains available to cars on the Belarusian-Polish border. The Polish interior and administration minister imposed a full ban on trucks registered in either Belarus or Russia and arriving from Belarusian territory from June 1 until further notice.
