Russia bans another 48 Australians from entering its territory

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Russia has banned several dozen Australian citizens from entering its territory as a retaliatory measure, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

"Entry to our country is closed indefinitely for an additional 48 Australians from among contractors of the military-industrial complex, journalists and municipal deputies who shape the anti-Russian agenda in [Australia]," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.

The list of individuals from Australia subject to Russia's restrictions was published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.

Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry extended its entry ban list for Australian citizens on September 16, 2022, adding 41 people to it at the time. A total of 121 Australian residents were included in the Russian list on June 16, 2022. Earlier, on April 7, 2022, Russia imposed sanctions on 228 Australians, including members of the Australian National Security Committee, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and regional legislative assemblies.
