Some consumers in 7 Ukrainian regions cut off from electricity - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Some consumers in the Nikolayev, Sumy, Kharkov and Chernigov regions, as well as in the Kiev-controlled parts of Zaporozhye, Donetsk and Kherson regions, were cut off from electricity as of June 21, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry on Wednesday.

At the same time, consumers in the Kiev, Kirovograd, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Sumy, and Kharkov regions were also cut off from electricity due to the thunderstorm and technological disruptions caused by it.

The Energy Ministry said that power engineers had restored electricity supply to over 14,000 customers over the past 24 hours.

As the ministry said, a large-scale incident on a 330 kV line of the transmission system operator, which resulted in 100,000 consumers in Kiev and the region cut off from power in the morning of June 21, occurred due to damage to the power grid in the Vinnitsa region. The causes of the incident are being looked into.

"Besides, for the second time this week due to the emergency in the networks of the transmission system operator in Ukraine there was a temporary disconnection of the interstate line with Moldova. At the same time, the high-voltage line of the transmission system operator in the Chernovtsy region switched off," the ministry added.

The Energy Ministry said commercial imports of electricity amounted to 100 MWh over the past 24 hours, while there were no exports.
