Ukraine to be among key suppliers of green electric energy to Europe - Zelensky at London conference

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Ukraine will supply environment-friendly electric energy to Europe, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"There is no alternative to the economy's green transformation, and it is among the key foundations of security," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in a video address at the opening ceremony of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London.

"It is green energy that guarantees real energy stability. Ukraine can be - and will be! - among the key suppliers of environment-friendly electric energy and green hydrogen to Europe. The potential of only this single industry is about $400 billion," he said.

Zelensky also reiterated Ukraine's desire to become a NATO member.

"Just as Ukraine belongs to the EU's value environment, we already belong to NATO's security environment. De facto. Just as Ukraine is part of the EU's common market and is on its way to full membership, we are defending our common space of freedom in the North Atlantic alliance, and we only expect courage from the North Atlantic alliance's leaders to recognize this reality politically," he said.

Zelensky invited conference participants to visit Ukraine. "By the way, Rishi, it's been a long time since we met in Kiev," Zelensky said addressing UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
