Water level in Kherson down to 0.29m, 3 settlements on right bank of Dnieper remain partially flooded - Ukrainian Emergency Situations Committee
MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - The water level in Kherson decreased by 10 centimeters to 0.29 meters as of Tuesday evening, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Service for Emergency Situations.
"As of the evening of June 20, the water level in Kherson was 0.29 meters (having decreased by 10 centimeters from the start of the day). Three populated areas (595 houses) on the right bank of the Dnieper remained partially flooded," the service said on social media.
As reported, rescue teams have pumped out over 182,300 tonnes of water from 795 houses and basements in responding to the disaster, including 18,300 tonnes of water pumped out of 223 basements and houses on Tuesday alone. They have also delivered over 554 tonnes of drinking water to citizens, including over 65 tonnes on Tuesday alone.
Ukrainian media reported with reference to Ukrhydroenergo on Wednesday that engineers resumed power supply to the village of Nikolskoye, the last settlement that still remained cut off from electricity because of the flood until lately.
"Over the past 24 hours, power engineers restarted two transformer substations in Kherson and hooked up 432 customers to the grid. They also resumed power supply to the last settlement on the right bank, Nikolskoye, that was cut off from electricity because of the flood," it said.
Efforts to resume power supply in the region are continuing.
"Water has subsided in 32 settlements in the region. Only three populated areas on the right bank of the Dnieper, which are Kherson, Novogrednevo, and Blagodatovka, still remain partially flooded," it said.
