Zelensky talks with WB President Banga, von der Leyen

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has had a phone call with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.

"We discussed further development of cooperation, in particular, mobilization of international support," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying on his social account on Monday.

He thanked Banga for the WB's "rapid response" to the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant dam collapse and invited it to reopen its office in Ukraine.

Kiev is interested in cooperation during its post-crisis transformation, "in particular, in overcoming corruption and reducing the share of cash in the Ukrainian economy," Zelensky said.

Zelensky also had a call with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to discuss financial support for Ukraine, Ukrainian media reported.

"We discussed further financial support for Ukraine on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in London on June 21-22," Zelensky said in his social media post.

"We look forward to the announcement of the interim verbal assessment of Ukraine's progress in implementing the European Commission's recommendations this week," he said.
