SPB Exchange to soon launch trading of ETF in Hong Kong dollars, yuan
ST. PETERSBURG. June 20 (Interfax) - The SPB Exchange plans to soon launch trading of Hong Kong exchange traded funds (ETF) in Hong Kong dollars and yuan, exchange CEO Roman Goryunov said.
"We hope to launch Hong Kong ETFs in in the coming weeks. There won't be any unfriendly infrastructure in them. And they will be both in Hong Kong dollars and in yuan," Goryunov said at a National Association of Stock Market Participants (NAUFOR) conference on the collective investment market in 2023.
These instruments will be accessible to unqualified investors, he said.
The SPB Exchange launched trading of international ETFs on November 11, 2022, making 115 such funds accessible to Russian investors. The number of traded ETFs rose to 146 in January 2023, 156 in April and 170 in June. Transactions with these instruments are accessible only to qualified investors.
