Ukrainian Interior Ministry reports update on flooded localities

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - As of Monday, 22 populated areas in the part of the Kherson region controlled by Kiev remained partially flooded in the wake of the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant dam collapse, and the water level is gradually decreasing, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Interior Ministry.

"The Kherson control station on the Dnieper River has recorded a gradual decrease in the water level, which has declined by seven centimeters since the start of the day. Five populated areas (843 houses) remain partially flooded on the right bank controlled by Kiev and 17 populated areas on the left bank not under its control," the ministry said on its social account.

Fourteen evacuation outposts are currently operating in the flood-stricken area. Rescuers have pumped over 132,000 tonnes of water out of 497 houses and basements since the start of the emergency response, including 23,000 tonnes from 78 houses and basements on June 18 alone.
