Slovenia to donate equipment for flood relief to Ukraine, allocate over 10 mln euros until 2027

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - The Slovenian government decided at a meeting last week to provide Ukraine with the financial assistance totaling over 200,000 euros to clean up the aftermath of the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant dam's destruction.

As the Ukrainian media reported citing the Slovenian government website, the assistance will be allocated to Ukraine in the form of materials and equipment through the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism. These will include chainsaws, submersible and portable pumps, life jackets, etc.

The Slovenian government also approved a decision on contributing up to 10.2 million euros to the European instrument for providing the support for Ukraine in four tranches in 2024, 2025, 2026 and in 2027. The funds will be used to subsidize the interest rate on the loans that the European Commission (EC) provides to Ukraine under the instrument.

The real amounts of subsidies will be determined every year separately, based on the EC's estimation of the actual cost of Ukraine's borrowings on financial markets and possible additional payments from the budget of the EU or other donors.
