Ukrainian Education Ministry, Sports Ministry expanding cooperation with European Commission

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Education and Science Ministry and the European Commission have signed an agreement on cooperation in education.

"Minister Oksen Lisovy and European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas have signed a framework document on cooperation in field of education," Ukrainian media reported with reference to the ministry's press service.

The ministry said it sees European integration in education and science among its key priorities.

Ukrainian media also said the Sports Ministry and the European Commission agreed to broaden cooperation.

"Schinas met with Minister Vadim Guttsait. They shared the view that continuing close cooperation on youth and sports matters was important and agreed to work more on a common agenda in the field of youth and sports policy between Ukraine and the EU," it said.

The parties agreed at the meeting that, from 2024, the European Commission would start capacity building projects for youth and sports under the Erasmus+ program for the Eastern Partnership countries, which would enable Ukrainian organizations to take part in international youth and sports cooperation projects in the Erasmus+ program countries.

The European Solidarity Corps also offered volunteer activities to young people 18 to 30 years of age who legally reside in the EU and partner countries, including Ukraine.
