ArcelorMittal Berislav ramping up limestone shipments to AMKR after restarting production

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - JSC ArcelorMittal Berislav is increasing limestone shipments to steel producer ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog (AMKR).

"We began to ship limestone from our stockpiles in March. This raw material is used by the ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog sinter shop to produce sinter [...]We were able to start quarrying limestone from May 1," the press service quoted the general director of ArcelorMittal Berislav, Leonid Smolyarenko as saying.

Vladimir Teslyuk, deputy general director for production at the AMKR Mining Department, said it was important that the limestone enterprise had restarted as the companies were interconnected, and that he hoped "the result of our effective cooperation will benefit the Ukrainian economy."

ArcelorMittal Berislav has shipped almost 47,000 tonnes of limestone including inventory to AMKR since March 2023 and has mined around 20,000 tonnes. Limestone shipments for AMKR used to exceed 500,000 tonnes per year. Forecast shipments this year are around 200,000 tonnes.

JSC ArcelorMittal Berislav, formerly Berislav Construction Materials Plant, meets up to 30% of the needs of AMKR, Ukraine's biggest rolled steel producer, for limestone.
