Ukrainian Premier Shmygal orders improving cargo transportation infrastructure on Ukraine's western border

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal has ordered drafting am infrastructure development plan for cargo transportation both on the Romanian border and the border with other western neighbors.

"The western border of Ukraine has become the main logistics corridor. We're continuing working on the expansion of its turnover capacity. We have discussed at a government meeting modernizing the existing checkpoints and building new ones, including [on the border with] Romania. Trade turnover in this section increased nearly by 100% [since the beginning of the crisis]. Other priorities include the development of ports on the Danube and ferry crossings," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Shmygal as saying on social networks.

According to the State Agency for Restoration, cargo traffic on the border with Romania could be increased threefold, he said.

"I have ordered improving the relevant infrastructure for cargo transportation both on the Romanian border and the border with our other western neighbors," Shmygal said.
