Gas to be one of main transition fuels, demand could grow 10% by 2030, up to 54% for LNG - Novak

MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Natural gas will be one of the main transition fuels against the backdrop of the green agenda, with demand rising as much as 10% by 2030, Deputy Russian Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an article for the Energy Policy magazine.

"In the future, the share of gas as a transition fuel is expected to increase. By 2030, gas demand will grow by up to 10%, largely by increasing its use in industry and the energy sector against the backdrop of decarbonization," he said.

Demand for LNG could grow even more, by 54% to 800 billion cubic meters, he said. LNG's share of the overall growth in demand for natural gas is estimated at 70-80%.
