Belarus agrees with China to increase road transport permit quota fourfold

MINSK. June 7 (Interfax) - Belarus and China have agreed to increase the quota for road transit permits fourfold, from 1,000 to 4,000 annually, the Belarusian Transport Ministry's press service reports.

"Belarusian carriers can expect the arrival of a delivery of 3,000 additional Chinese permits," the report says.

The new permits will be valid in 2023 and 2024.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov previously announced a significant increase in the supply of Belarusian products in containers to China via fast trains. "Export transportation of containers with products from Belarusian enterprises to China in 2022 increased five times versus 2021 and in the first quarter of this year, more than three times," Snopkov noted.

Belarus is also negotiating with Russia, Armenia, Syria, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on the transition to a permit-free system for the passage of freight carriers.
