All conditions created to speed up organization of gas hub in Turkey - Shulginov

SOCHI. June 7 (Interfax) - The timing for setting up the gas hub in Turkey has not yet been set, but work is underway, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov told reporters.

"I think that now all the conditions have been created in order to speed up the resolution of the issue together with our colleagues," he added.

In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the initiative to lay additional gas pipelines from Russia to Turkey along the bottom of the Black Sea, as well as to create a gas hub on the EU border, which could become an alternative to other centers for determining the price of gas in Europe.

Turkey planned to discuss the creation of this hub with potential participating countries in February, but the dedicated conference was postponed due to a devastating earthquake in the southeast of the country.
