Iran cooperating with Russia, Turkmenistan, Qatar to set up gas hub in Gulf - oil minister
DUBAI. June 7 (Interfax) - Iran intends to cooperate with Russia, Turkmenistan, and Qatar to set up a gas hub in the Persian Gulf, Iranian Oil Industry Minister Javad Owji said.
"With the cooperation of Russia, Turkmenistan, and Qatar, we are trying to have a gas hub in the Asaluyeh region, and its preparations are being planned," Mehr News Agency quoted Owji as saying.
Tehran will continue to develop its trade with neighboring countries, he said.
Iran has achieved considerable success in the oil and gas and the chemical sectors, and it has been involved in building oil refineries in Venezuela, he said.
The world needs such facilities that are not exposed to sanctions, and their construction in various countries will continue, he said.
Iranian media reported in April that, during Owji's visit to Caracas, he and Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez signed a series of documents to promote cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sector, including common development of oil and gas fields.
