Eurasian Intergovernmental Council to consider over 20 issues in Sochi - Belarusian PM

MINSK. June 6 (Interfax) - Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko has unveiled the agenda for the meetings of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and CIS Council of Heads of Government, which are both scheduled to be held in Sochi.

"On June 7-9, the city of Sochi will host meetings of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, the CIS Council of Heads of Government, and a number of related events, including the 'Eurasia: Our Home' exhibition of cooperation projects and a plenary session of the Eurasian Congress," Golovchenko said at a meeting to discuss the Belarusian delegation's preparations, footage of which was released by the Belarusian government's press service on Tuesday.

"The agenda of the Intergovernmental Council's meeting is extensive: 22 issues, ten of which will be discussed in a narrow format. The agenda of the CIS Council of Heads of Government comprises 17 issues, including three to be discussed in a narrow format," he said.

As is traditional, "we also plan to hold bilateral meetings with other countries' heads of government during the visit. We will consider the preparations for our meeting with the Russian Federation's delegation, [which is] our closest friend, ally and strategic partner, in more detail," Golovchenko said.

"Above all, we need to focus on the practical implementation of the agreements reached by our [presidents] at the last meeting, and on further developing industrial cooperation, [which is] a matter of great importance for us," he said.
