Kazakhstan could harvest 16 mln tonnes of wheat in 2023

ASTANA. June 6 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan expects to harvest 16 million tonnes of wheat in 2023, Agriculture Minister Yerbol Karashukeyev said.

"All factors considered, the harvest of grain crops can be expected to be at an annual average level. Talking about the wheat, the gross harvest is anticipated to be around 16 million tonnes. The harvest will be rather bountiful," the minister said at a Tuesday meeting of the government in Astana.

Kazakhstan harvested 22 million tonnes of grain and legumes in 2022. The wheat harvest totaled 16.4 million tonnes, so this year's wheat harvest could fall 2.4%.
