Viber, Telegram facing fines of up to 4 mln rubles for not removing prohibited content in Russia
MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - A justice of the peace in Moscow has registered administrative offense motions against the Viber and Telegram messengers, a court representative told Interfax.
The messengers are charged with not removing prohibited information, he said.
If found guilty, the companies will be facing administrative fines of up to 4 million rubles.
This is the first time Viber is being held liable for such an offense in Russia.
