Russian FM arrives in Tajikistan on official visit

DUSHANBE. June 5 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Tajikistan, where he will meet with the foreign minister and the president of the country and will visit Russia's 201st military base, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier that Lavrov would visit Tajikistan on June 5-6 for a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and negotiations with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

During the meetings, the parties will discuss bilateral relations, political, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan and the regional and global agenda, including coordination of efforts on international platforms, among them the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the ministry said.

During his trip to Tajikistan, Lavrov will also visit the 201st Russian military base, it said.
