Kazakhstan interested in Russian gas transit to Uzbekistan - energy minister

ASTANA. June 2 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is interested in Russian gas transit to Uzbekistan and is ready to provide the necessary infrastructure, Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said.

"The Republic of Uzbekistan and Gazprom are in talks on the amount and price of gas. On the whole, the Kazakh side has declared the readiness to give technical support for gas transit across our territory. We will be able to provide our infrastructure as soon as the negotiations are finalized," Satkaliyev said at a parliament committee meeting on Friday.

"What is more, we say that the infrastructure will be ready by the fall and winter season of next year. We in Kazakhstan are interested in this transit, from the angle of both a certain transit fee and higher reliability of energy supply to the Central Asian region in general," he said.
