Russia, EU, U.S. ready to guarantee conclusion of Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement - Armenian parliament speaker

YEREVAN. June 1 (Interfax) - A peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku should be guaranteed by a third country, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said.

"It is very important that we have guarantees after signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. All centers hosting the negotiations have expressed their readiness to serve as guarantors. What we get at the end is a different question. It's important to have a guarantor, which will monitor compliance with the agreements achieved," Simonyan told reporters on Thursday.

The European Union, the United States and Russia are ready to serve as guarantors of the conclusion of a peace agreement, "but we should choose the strongest mechanism," he said.

"I think it would be best to designate just one country as the guarantor. I do not know whether it would by Russia, France, the United States or Germany," Simonyan said.
