Ukrainian cargo carriers' transport permits to third countries extended until June 30

MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Poland have agreed on the extension of permits for Ukrainian cargo carriers to transport goods to third countries until June 30, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine said.

"Agreements to extend permits for cargo transportation to third countries were reached following talks between the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland. The permits will be in effect until June 30," Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the ministry's statements on social networks.

The long-term decision on the permits will be considered at a relevant session of the Ukrainian-Polish joint commission for international motor transportation in the near future, the ministry said.

In addition, the holding of an online meeting with Polish cargo carriers to discuss the operations of an electronic queue was agreed on during the talks involving Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland Rafal Weber and Lublin Voivode Lech Sprawka in Poland's Lublin on Sunday, the ministry said.

"At a request of the Infrastructure Development Ministry, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland will analyze aspects of the work of automobile checkpoints in Korczowa, Medyka, and Hrebenne in order to increase their throughput capacity which directly impacts the border crossing speed of cargo carriers signed up in the eQueue," the ministry said.

The parties also reached agreement on the interpretation of the European Union-Ukraine Agreement on the Carriage of Freight by Road.

Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Sergei Derkach expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland for its openness to cooperation and readiness to resolve important issues.

"We promised our carriers that we would find a solution and we found it together with the Polish side. I am convinced that cooperation between our countries will continue being efficient and useful for both Ukraine and Poland," Derkach said.
