MegaFon files lawsuit with EU court requesting that sanctions imposed against it be lifted

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - MegaFon has filed a lawsuit with the European Union court to request that the sanctions imposed against the telecoms company be lifted, according to the official EU journal.

The EU imposed restrictive measures against MegaFon on February 25. MegaFon said that it was exploring means to challenge the decision, noting that the sanctions did not impose serious restrictions on business or subscribers.

The lawsuit claims that there are insufficient grounds for imposing the restrictions.

Moreover, the United States included MegaFon in the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List in April this year, and the U.S. Department of Commerce included the telecoms operator in its list of export restrictions on February 24, 2023. MegaFon said that it also intends to challenge these decisions.
