Rada backs 50-year sanctions on Iran - parliamentarian

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has voted in favor of implementing the president's proposal on imposing sanctions on Iran for 50 years, Ukrainian media reported with reference to parliamentarian Alexei Goncharenko.

"The Rada has agreed upon sanctions on Iran for 50 years," Goncharenko wrote on social media.

As reported earlier, the Rada was invited to endorse the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council's decision of May 27, 2023 on applying special sectoral economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The restrictions include a complete ban on trade with Iran, transit of resources, flights, and shipments from Iran via Ukrainian territory, transfer of funds by Iranian residents outside of Ukraine, transfer of technology and intellectual property rights to Iranian residents, and investments in Iran.
