Verkhovna Rada terminates Ukraine-Belarus agreement on pensions

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has terminated the agreement between the Ukrainian and Belarusian governments guaranteeing citizens' rights to pension coverage, Ukrainian media said on Monday, citing MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

An explanatory note to the document cited Belarus's support for Russia as the reason for terminating the agreement.

The document accompanying the bill that terminates the aforementioned agreement says that citizens' rights gained in accordance with the provisions of the agreement will not be invalidated in the event of its denunciation.

The Ukrainian and Belarusian governments signed the agreement on guarantees of citizens' rights to pension coverage in Kiev on December 14, 1995.
