Russia sends 11 agricultural attaches to Asia Pacific Region - ministry

BLAGOVESHCHENSK. May 29 (Interfax) - Eleven representatives of the Russian Agriculture Ministry constitute a network of agricultural attaches in the Asia Pacific region, Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister Sergei Levin said on Saturday.

"A comprehensive support system has been created over years to accommodate needs of businesses at every stage of production and trade cycle. A network of Russian Agriculture Ministry representatives abroad, our agricultural attaches, is an important element of the system promoting agricultural products on foreign markets. We have sent our agricultural attaches to 11 countries of the Asia Pacific region," Levin said in a virtual statement at the AmurExpo forum in the Amur region.

The Agriculture Ministry representatives are an effective mechanism of assistance to Russian exporters and an important channel of professional communication with foreign governments and importers of Russian food and agricultural products, he said.

The ministry is creating an attache network abroad pursuant with the Russian president's order. The first 10 attaches went to their respective countries in spring 2021, including in Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Peru, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola and Ethiopia. Currently, 37 representatives of the Russian Agriculture Ministry are working in 36 countries. In all, the ministry is planning to have agricultural attaches in 50 countries.
