Azerbaijani FM, NATO envoy discuss bilateral cooperation, Baku-Yerevan talks

BAKU. May 26 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Javier Colomina, NATO deputy assistant secretary general for political affairs and security policy and the secretary general's special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, met on Friday to discuss Azerbaijan's cooperation with NATO and Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed aspects of cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan, the process of normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, and the current state of the negotiations. The Azerbaijani side highlighted the importance of maintaining a regular political dialogue and the development of practical cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan, as a partner country and a contributor to peace and security in the region and beyond," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Bayramov informed Colomina about the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the steps taken by Baku to promote the peace agenda.

"Colomina stressed for his part that NATO supports a normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia," it said.
