Baku, Yerevan to continue contacts to normalize relations - Aliyev

BAKU. May 23 (Interfax) - Baku and Yerevan will continue meetings and negotiations to normalize Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in Baku on Tuesday, while receiving Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) President Margareta Cederfelt.

Aliyev reaffirmed Baku's support for the signing of a peace treaty with Armenia based on five principles proposed by Azerbaijan, including the recognition of each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Azerbaijani presidential press service said on its website.

Aliyev briefed Cederfelt on recent peace treaty talks between the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers in Arlington, the United States, on May 1-4 and a meeting between the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders in Brussels on May 14. He said more such meetings would be arranged on the sidelines of various international events.

Azerbaijan has initiated the creation of an integrated South Caucasus model involving all three countries of the region, he said.
