Pashinyan does not rule out signing document to reopen regional communications with Baku on May 25

YEREVAN. May 22 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has not ruled out the signing of a document to reopen regional communications at a meeting with Azerbaijan in Moscow.

Pashinyan said at a press conference on Monday that the signing of a peace agreement was unlikely to happen at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Moscow on May 25.

"We do not think it is realistic to sign the document in Moscow. There is not so much time left before the meeting," he said.

"However, I cannot rule out the possibility of finding a common denominator to reopen communications," Pashinyan said.

He added that it was possible to sign the peace agreement with Azerbaijan at a meeting in Chisinau on June 1.

"Our goal is to conclude the negotiations [on a peace agreement with Azerbaijan] as soon as possible and sign the document. Our team is working hard," Pashinyan said.

As to whether the peace agreement could be signed with Baku at a meeting in Chisinau on June 1, Pashinyan said, "We have submitted our peace agreement proposals to Azerbaijan for the fourth time. If it happens that Azerbaijan sends us its response to our proposals this week and if a few days, one week is enough to analyze them and we deem their approaches to be an acceptable compromise, then, why not."

"We have yet to receive a response from Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.
