U.S. imposes sanctions on leading Russian subway car maker Metrovagonmash

MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - The United States has included Metrovagonmash, one of Russia's leading subway car manufacturers, in its sanctions list, the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) reported on Friday.

Metrovagonmash, a division of train maker Transmashholding (TMH), specializes in manufacturing rolling stock for subways and railways, spare parts for its rolling stock, as well as overhauls, modernization and maintenance.

More than 9,000 subway cars made by Metrovagonmash carry over 16 million passengers daily on 19 subways in 11 countries, the company's website said.
