Ukrainian official says Zelensky to attend Japan G7 summit in person, no formal confirmation yet from Tokyo

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is expected to make an in-person appearance at the Group of Seven summit in Japan, Ukrainian media said, citing National Security and Defense Council chief Alexei Danilov's remarks on the Rada television channel.

"Very important matters will be decided there. So, our president's presence there is a crucial thing to defend our interests," Danilov said.

However, there has been no official confirmation of that from Tokyo so far, Ukrainian media said.

It was reported earlier that Zelensky would attend the G7 summit by video link.
