Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine grants motion for former Supreme Court chairman's arrest

MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) - The Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine on Thursday granted a motion filed by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office for permission to arrest former Supreme Court Chairman Vsevolod Knyazev, who is charged with corruption.

"The motion was granted. All the 14 members of the Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine voted for it," Ukrainian media reported, citing the Supreme Council of Justice.

The Supreme Court expressed no confidence in Knyazev and dismissed him as the Supreme Court chairman the previous day. He was charged with accepting a large bribe.
