Russian manufacturing industry could grow 2% in 2023 - Manturov
MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - The Russian Industry and Trade of Ministry has raised its expectations for manufacturing industry growth this year to 2% from 1%, it follows from a remarks made by Deputy Prime Minister - Industry and Trade Minister of Denis Manturov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"In general, we expect that for the manufacturing industry this year we can already say we might reach a figure of plus 2%. Very cautiously, but we can already say plus 2% for manufacturing," he said on Wednesday.
Manturov said in the middle of March that manufacturing this year might not perform any worse than in 2022 and could grow 1%.
Manufacturing grew 1.3% in 2022, according to Rosstat data.
