Turkmenistan's President replaces both Deputy Prime Minister for fuel and energy complex and head of Turkmengas

ASHGABAT. May 15 (Interfax) - President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov replaced the vice-premier for the fuel and energy complex and the head of the Turkmengas state concern during a government meeting late last week, the state news agency of Turkmenistan reported.

Ashirguly Begliev was dismissed from his post of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Oil and Gas and was appointed Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan for Oil and Gas.

The president appointed Batyr Amanov as the new vice-premier in charge of the fuel and energy complex, releasing him from his post of chairman of Turkmengas. Maksat Babayev was appointed the new head of the state concern.

The relevant decrees on the appointments were published on the website of the state information agency of Turkmenistan.

Begliev served as Deputy Prime Minister since February 2023. Prior to that, since April 2022, he was an adviser to the President of Turkmenistan for oil and gas. From 2015 to 2017, he headed Turkmengas.

Amanov was appointed chairman of Turkmengas in July 2020. Prior to that, he was the general director of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries, and worked in other positions in the oil and gas industry.

Babayev, before his new appointment, was Deputy Chairman of Turkmengas. He had already headed the concern once before. From 2017 to April 2018, he was Deputy Prime Minister for Oil and Gas.

During the government meeting before the adoption of these personnel decisions, Begliev reported on the state of affairs in the fuel and energy complex, saying that consistent measures were being taken to strengthen the material and technical base of the industry's production enterprises. In this regard, the President was presented with a draft of the relevant resolution. The head of state signed the document, emphasizing the importance of the systematic modernization of the sector's infrastructure.
