Belgium to allocate 92 mln euro to Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees from taxes on frozen Russian assets
BRUSSELS. May 12 (Interfax) - The Belgian government has announced the approval of a new 92 million euro aid package to Ukraine, financed through taxes on Russian assets frozen in the country, local media reported.
Half of this amount is for military aid, specifically the supply of armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition. In addition, 46 million euros will be directed "to support the population of Ukraine and to strengthen the Belgian diplomatic presence."
At the end of March, the Belgian government announced that it would use the proceeds from the taxation of Russian assets frozen in the country to directly support Ukraine, as well as to integrate Ukrainians in Belgium. Then, the amount under discussion was approximately 625 million euro.
