FESCO launches container service from China to Belarus via port of Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK. May 12 (Interfax) - The FESCO transport group (parent company - The Far Eastern Shipping Company ) launched an intermodal container route for the delivery of auto components from the Chinese port of Ningbo to Zhodino station in Belarus via the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port . VMTP, the largest stevedoring company in the port of Vladivostok, is also part of FESCO.

The FESCO report says that, as part of the service, up to four container trains per month can be sent to Belarus via VMTP and alternative routes.

The estimated delivery time from China to the customer's warehouse in Belarus is up to 35 days.

The first shipment of vehicle sets and spare parts in 62 of FESCO's forty-foot containers left Ningbo on April 23 via the FESCO sea line connecting the ports of China with VMTP.

Auto components were sent from Vladivostok in a container train on May 8, and arrival of the cargo at Zhodino station is scheduled for May 22.

In early April, it was reported that FESCO had opened FESCO BelTrans, a subsidiary company in Minsk, to develop import and export transportation between Belarus and the countries of Southeast Asia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The FESCO transport group is a major Russian port operator with its own rail and logistics business. It manages a fleet of containers of more than 135,000 TEU; their flatcar fleet exceeds 10,000 units. The group manages a sea fleet of 32 vessels, operated primarily on its own shipping lines.
