Belarusian FM Aleinik to discuss deeper interaction with Lavrov, Matviyenko, Volodin

MINSK. May 11 (Interfax) - Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik will discuss the deepening of Belarusian-Russian interaction with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin during an official visit to Moscow in May, the press service for the Russian embassy in Minsk said on Thursday.

"Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik will pay an official visit to Moscow on May 15-17," the press service said.

"Negotiations between the foreign ministers of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus will address a broad range of topical matters of bilateral cooperation and the international agenda. The sides will discuss additional measures towards the further deepening of cooperation between the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries, including preparations for a joint meeting of the boards of the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries in Moscow in the fourth quarter of this year," the press service said.

"Emphasis will be put on diplomatic support for integration processes unfolding in the Union State, as well as interstate interaction in the CIS and cooperation in the fulfillment of 2023 presidency programs of Russia in the EAEU and Belarus in the CSTO," it said.

The ministers will discuss in detail the coordination of stances at international organizations, including the United Nations, on the basis of the program of coordinated foreign political actions of member states of the Union State Treaty for 2022-2023, the press service said.

"It is planned to exchange views on global and European security, coordinated actions on the Asian, African and Latin American tracks, cooperation in multilateral human rights organizations, non-proliferation affairs, and biological and information security," it said.

The ministers plan to sign a joint statement on common foreign political priorities of Russia and Belarus at the end of the negotiations.
